Being the ignorant child I am, other than the 'over-proofs', I had no idea rums of such strength existed. I don't want to even guess at the costs.
JaRiMi, I would love to hear your opinion if/when you open your Cadenheads bottle.

Angel's Envy has recently come out with a Rye (95%) at 50 abv that according to their literature is finished for as long as 18 months in 'Franco Caribbean' rum casks/barrels that had previously been used to age cognac. So first French cognac (how long?), then rum (what rum and how long?), and finall...

You started it Capn'
I haven't been vocal here in quite some time. There's a reason. The rums I was drinking were mostly 40 abv, tasty but I was missing something. If you're familiar with some of my earlier posts you will understand I have difficulty with tastes. You have to bloody my nose before I get the point. The la...

I am certainly not one to have tasting notes of any value. I did recently finish a bottle of Plantation 1990 Guyana and enjoyed it very much. I guess all I could pass on that might have any significance for more experienced rummies is it had a great dry finish and I loved the sensation in my mouth (...

Thanks so much Capn' and Uisge, I wanted to buy a friend a few bottles of decent SMSW but knew nothing. I have since read considerably more, but before that I needed to buy for my friend. With Capn's 'Bang for your Buck' list and Uisge chiming in with his opinion regarding the first three in the lis...

Great stuff, da'rum! Admittedly most of the still talk is total 'magic' for me. I have a handful of close Aussie mates around the Melbourne area I have known since my 20's. No surprise to this 'Sep' (short for 'septic tank yank', they like their Cockney-esque word rhymes) that they go a 'little' ove...

I would also be curious as to where of you speak da'rum. I did grow up surfing and do understand that some 'secret spots' are meant to be kept secret. Too many people spoil the whole scene. I do know Kiwis were into doing their own hootch, but most were just making high octane pure alcohol then wate...

I have not read above review. Probably pointless for me anyhow. I cracked a bottle the other night. I'll keep my comments brief and general. Warmth at front of mouth and at throat when swallowing...pleasant. Mild enjoyable sweetness. If I sucked in my cheeks I had that enjoyable spice sensation thro...

I am not sure what this means..........
But I did get a good laugh. Some may want to throw the brew sitting in the icebox away. Some may have their hearts warmed. I feel they, politicians, are all rubbish. That is as complementary a descriptor as I can use for pols. http://5minforecast.agorafinancial.com/files/2012/10/100512_fmf2B.png Exc...

This could be funny...I'll try to keep it short which sometimes is an issue for me. I revisited the Pampero last night (keep wanting to call it Pampano and even Pompano). Opened it about 4 or 5 years ago for my brother-in-law and I to have a drink. Not touched since. Could not figure out the smell. ...
