As I suggested, these are names and descriptors meant to be easily approachable by those inexperienced in rum. As simple as possible and a bit of fun. They are certainly not serious notes but it doesn't automatically mean they are flavored. They also have a website called Whisky Blender , do you thi...

Oi! What happened to my post there Jimbo? :) Oh well must have been a glitch in the matrix! ;) Here goes again: I don't necessarily disagree with Dave Russells review for the most part but I would say the rum is more than mildly oaky. Dave Russell, who also has an excellent palate as opposed to mine...

Richland Rum have the potential to make truly excellent rum. I've tried examples from them ranging from 1 week old, 1 month, 18 months and the final version which is aged further (about 3-4 years). In my opinion the new barrels they use are too much for the rum and it doesn't actually benefit from a...

Brand ambassadors very seldom know anything about the product, for their sole purpose is to try and sell the product, at best they will know the usual marketing crap found on press releases and perhaps some of them have even met the producer. Of course there are well knowledgeable ambassadors out th...

Welcome to the new normal, and a marketeers' wet dream... A bunch of clearly altered cheepo rums - but - bottled by Cuban virgins in luxury bottles and with any really cool name you can think of and yes, for super-premium prices? You decide, and... ...welcome to the new normal! Not necessarily so, ...

Oh pooh... I love the Count, but today we'll agree to disagree. I know Richard Seale quite well enough to know that he scrupulously avoids discussing any other distiller's rums in any such specific detail, positive or negative. Good on him! Let's just say I'm having uh, a very, very hard time belie...

Trust me when I say that this subject has been wrestled to death already in other places of discussion and I've had personal discussions with Richard Seale on top of this about the accuracy of testing and what affects the numbers etc. He for one agrees that Mount Gay uses 0 sugar. 2. I am not impres...

Re: Sugar Wars Dept: Systembolaget Database
Or you could simply just go here and get the full list without having to search... And out of all those rums there is already a list of the ones that list the sugar content on my website with maybe one or two missing from mine that have been added to the Systembolaget list recently. Make no mistake ...

Like you say Count, Appletons may be more on our side, it's just a pity we only have figures for the 12 year old. Funny enough I was enjoying a drop of the 12 year old last night. The Appleton 21 also measures very low so 0! There will be more figures added as time passes. The die has been cast. Pe...

On this subject, what's the feeling on stuff like Black Seal, Wood's 100 Demerara, Myer's, etc? Obviously there is a shitload of caramel, but they're not especially sweet and definitely not smooth as many proven sugared rums are. I'm inclined to think not much non-E150 sugar has been added. What th...

I have more faith in Appleton at least the 12 year old. Appleton would most likely not add any sugar to their products. The Appleton 12 measures at less than 3gr/l and the margin of error is around 5% in laboratory settings. Small differences in the density in measurements in aged rums are normal d...
