Speaking of scripts, this entire thread could be made into a movie :D Betrayal, court cases, friendship lost and friendship found. Only thing missing is a car chase. I hope I will be played by Norman Reedus I want to be played by Robert De Niro. Perhaps Chip could be played by Zach Galifianakis and...

Let me also say that Winston has been (and I'm confident that he'll continue to be) the best brand ambassador I've met from any producer. Wow! I am really flattered, Mark. Probably one of the finest compliments I have ever received  Thanks for believing in me. You are right to point out that...

I didn't mean to imply that the rest of Balcones employees were worthless... that's just pure marketing spin on your part. In any case, I'm sorry to have "ruffled your feathers." It should be obvious to anyone that this isn't the same company anymore and the past several months have prove...

For me, the genius behind the offerings from Balcones was Chip Tate. Balcones is at square one again. They'll have to re-prove their products because they're simply not the same anymore, much to their insistence otherwise. Well, Mark, I would say that's an insult to everyone else who helped build t...

The distillery isn't shuttered. We closed last week for the holiday. Due to the way our process works it's much easier to closer for the entire week rather than for a couple of days. Back at work today! ******* Capn's Log : Winston, thanks for the clarification. The news source that the distillery w...

Oh, also, I have had the Lost Spirits rum and I really like it. Can't guarantee the rest of you will feel the same, but I rather enjoyed drinking it in NOLA this year.

New barrels will impart drastically more color into spirit than used. Think of it like brewing tea. If you reuse a bag a second time, you have to steep it nearly twice as long to get a comparable amount of color and flavor from the leaves. Hence why you will find Scottish malt whiskies of a much lig...

You should be able to tell if there was sweetener added by wetting your fingers with it and rubbing them together until it evaporates. If your fingers are left slightly sticky, then it was sweetened.

I've heard from many American distillery representatives that GMO grain is largely unused in making whisky because it would put years of inventory at risk. If, down the line, the government decided that GMO grain was a really bad thing, they'd be sitting on tens of thousands of barrels of "unus...

I have tasted a corked bottle of Balcones Rumble (not technically a rum, but close) before. If someone hadn't pointed it out to me I may have never noticed! But once they did, it was fairly distinct. Interestingly enough, the spirit still tasted pretty good, just a bit of funk to it.

I'm not sure I understand the complaint here. Honestly, that's some pretty cool packaging. Undoubtedly, if it did change that drastically, it would offend a lot of the old-school guys. But this is just a student's project, so I can't figure out what the gripe is really.
