This 15yo (if it is) rum is pretty artificial in taste, sadly. Seems Angostura rectifies the spirit so much that the only way to get flavours into the rum is with the help of chemists...Additives. Even the vanilla notes in this product are odd, unnatural.

I think other sweeteners are in consideration, but the use of sugars as a sweetener is an established process - takes a while to replace this, no doubt. BTW many (like Zacapa) combine both glycerine and sugar already. There's a lot of BS flying around as the rum producers attempt to confuse the topi...

Angostura's rums are full of laboratory-designed quality and taste, sadly. It is disappointing as hell.

Berry Bros bottlings are generally very good, and without additives. The Caribbean XO is a very fine example of Caroni rum, and quite reasonably priced.

What a nice story. Where pray tell are these antique copper stills? What distillery? No pictures, no name. To what degree is the spirit distilled to? How strong is it when it is casked (to what casks, to be stored where)? Do a web search with words like "panama" and "pot stills" ...

Recently tasted all three of these and I would rate them Port Mourant first, Enmore second and Versailes a distant third. So you can pony up three times as much for a Velier (if you can find one) or scoop up one or two of these. The PM and Enmore are maybe a click less intense than the Velier count...
