Re: Rum Review: Appleton Extra 12 Year Rum

It is a great value and even though the price in the US is now around $40, it is still a fair deal.

Foursquare Redoubtable

I'm an admitted Foursquare aficionado and more than that a fan of their fortified wine casks releases which have all been spectacular. To say I was looking forward to this one is an understatement. Sweet cherries, oak, red wine, blackberries, plums(all the dark fruits!). Smokey wood, lemon...WOW! Sp...

Re: Doorly's 12yr

I do often add water to those above say 60%, but sometimes I Add medium-aged 40% rum to rums from the same distillery(mainly Worthy Park and FS as my go to regulars) to proof down to my tastes. It's different than adding water and imo, changes the spirit less. I think it doesn't "open" as ...

Re: Doorly's 12yr

RE:OAK- I think it's more of a personal preference. I too rarely drink the 12 straight as I find it oak forward and so I usually buy the 8 yo instead, but I do use them both at times to dilute the high % Foursquares down a bit. There is somewhat of a running joke in my circle about diluting with the...

Steps are being advanced in the right direction, however slowly that may be happening. True honesty is probably a pipe dream and I hope that GI's will become the norm, but that is still far away in many countries. That said, I still try to educate those in my circle and have been quite successful if...

I have the regular Real McCoy 12 and have been nursing a bottle for a few years. FWIW, it's not different enough for me to pay almost double the price compared to the very similar Doorly 12yo which has more pot still rum in the blend. Now at a higher proof, I'm sure it is a somewhat different animal...
