There's a coffee-infused rum from La Colombe called Different Drum Rum. I've never had it, though, so I can't comment on it.

Coffee liqueur for a Black Russian

What coffee liqueur do you use for a Black Russian? I find Kahlúa too sweet and cloying. I've recently been using Reserva del Señor Licor de Café. It's much better, but I'm wondering what else is out there that is good.

Yes, what Starbucks did was deplorable. As you can imagine, there was a bit of sour-grapes going on within the specialty-coffee industry after that happened. Weeks before, a lot of coffee people were praising the wonderful taste of the Clover S1. After Starbucks bought the company, there were a lot ...

I'm going to start off with my grinders because that's actually an overlooked essential to making good coffee. I use an Orphan Espresso Pharos for espresso, and an Orphan Espresso Lido 2 for everything else. I have a Porlex and a made-in-Taiwan Feima 600N, both of which were decent for their respect...

Hey, I moved to Taiwan--the land of amazing tea--and discovered my love of good coffee. We all have our little ironies in life. You and I have a similar start in rum, but I imagine that's pretty much the way most of us got started. As for the price of rum, I share your pain. I'm in a similar situati...

Yeah, whenever possible I try to write "a Canadian expat in Taiwan" on forums or social media under the location heading to avoid exactly that confusion. The other forum you and I both post on doesn't allow user-defined text in the location field, so I had to choose from the predefined opt...

Hello from Taiwan

Hello, everyone. I'm a Canadian expat from Taiwan. I became curious about rum a long time ago, but mainly just stuck with Captain & Coke. It wasn't until I moved to Taiwan that I had to find something else. In case you didn't know, Asia is a virtual rum desert. At that time, it was Myers's, Baca...
