I finally got a bottle of this, had my eye on it for a couple months now - just opened it and all I can say is wow. So much going on here, amazing how much this tastes like a spiced rum with all the cloves and allspice, a real palate wrecker. Reminds me a lot of Sea Wynde but with more spice and wit...

lemon hart 151 is also an excellent overproof, though hard to compare directly to the Wray + Nephew because they are completely different flavor profiles. I do have them sitting side-by-side in my cabinet though.

Must be a typo on the ED 15, I have never seen in priced much north of $30.

I just wish this rum had a better plastic cap on it, you cannot tighten it much at all before it slips and I fear losing some to evaporation. I now wish I had saved my last empty pusser's bottle and transferred this to it.

I would assume your description above of adulterated rums applies to Captain Morgan Private stock - which I have to admit was my "gateway" to good rums about a year and a half ago, though I would never buy a bottle now. Seems silly to me that is costs as much as Pusser's Blue Label which i...

I have had the 12 yr old for a little less than a week, I have been waiting a little while since opening it before doing a side by side with the 15, just in case air affects the flavor a little, as I have observed in some freshly opened bottles of other spirits. I am very surprised to find I actuall...

I also find the Flor de Cana 18 yr old to be bland (and overly dry) - and my name is Scott lol. I want like hell to love it, seeing as I paid $40, but I just don't. To clarify - when I say bland, I mean it doesn't have the rich full taste of my favorite rums, Pusser's Blue and the El Dorado 12 and 1...

Finally got ahold of this - as I mentioned in another thread - at the $20 price point I paid for it, I would have to say it is my favorite bang-for-the-buck spirit of any sort - though I have yet to try it next to the 15 yr old. Can you still find the ED 5 yr old nearly as cheap as you could a coupl...

Speaking of under $20 rums - I finally got ahold of a bottle of 12 yr old El Dorado for that price, and I have to say it is excellent - haven't done it side-by-side vs the 15 but for $20 vs $30 I think I have my new best bang for the buck liquor, regardless of the outcome.

Funny - when I sent you that pic of the Armagnac that looked like a Seales 10 yr bottle, I hadn't noticed this post. The one Armagnac I have tried is the Cles Des Ducs VSOP, I found it online for only $33, it is pretty good - more interesting than any of the VSOP Cognacs I had tried, the best of whi...

JaRiMi, Sea Wynde would be in that category, since they went out of business last year. Merwin's in Minnesota still has it listed on their site at the original price of $39 while I had heard another place had jacked it up to $70. I got a bottle from them and though I can't say I love it, it is a ver...

Q

The only place I have seen Seales 10 yr old was in the Orlando Total wine I pillaged while on vacation last summer, have not managed to find it online from a place that delivers to NC. A bargain a $25.

Doesn't surprise me that Rogue is cutting corners in their rum production, they started doing so in their beers a few years ago and some of them have gone downhill. A good friend of mine went to Seibel Institute (brewmaster school) with a Rogue brewer who said they had started switching to extracts ...

Well I just cracked my recently arrived bottle of pure pot-stilled rum - Sea Wynde - and all I can say is - wow, this is one potent aromatic mother. Many similar characteristics to Pusser's, and the nose reminds me a lot of Appleton Extra (which I recently acquired and like a lot.) I guess that's du...
