Why would DDL need these when they have a really good product? They just need to create an independent department that bottles 10-20 casks every year. PuRe casks. No additives, finishes etc. Couldn't agree more and for the life of me, I can't understand the reasoning behind DDL's refusal to release...

After clicking on that link, I can totally understand your decision.

I mean, honestly, that garish orange background??? What is this, 1995?

I just signed it, don't know if the European Commision cares what a Canadian thinks, but it's a start. I have to admit I've been pessimistic about any chance for change in the world of RINO (Rums in Name Only). As someone who had to waste money on Zacapa and Plantation rums (based on overwhelming on...

Welcome to the Project :D It pays to be informed before spending all that money on premium rum. In fact, it's becoming evident how few of the premium rums are anything other then a pre-mixed cocktail in a bottle, with all the added sugar and flavoring. I wish I had know about the Project when I star...

Rum Review : Screech Rum

For my first review here at the Project, I decided to pay tribute to my Atlantic Canadian heritage and review the famous Newfoundland Screech rum. As some of you may be aware, Screech rum is something of an institution in Eastern Canada. The story goes that when an American sailor tried it neat, he ...

I'm sure you'll get much more informed project members replying, but for what it's worth, I strongly doubt getting anywhere with the larger distillers for a few reasons : - You would need to place a large enough order for it to be worth their time and effort. Unless you and everybody you know wants ...

think there is another point here that must be adressed. If this mixing is done in the end, what about allergies ? What if one of the mysterious-traditional component is nut or other allergy based ? Should they not disclose this information to the consumers? Surely as any other food/drink they must...

I have bought one small 0.2l bottle of Plantation rum, Trinidad one, many years ago out of curiosity. It had been spoiled beyond recognition. Enough said.. My exact experience with the Jamaican bottling, if only they just would release all these rums without "dosing" them, it would then b...

Super interesting read, I would give anything to be able to get my hands on Velier's DDL bottlings, seems like it's the only way to get any pure rum out of DDL, unless I'm mistaken. A few quotes I found interesting : Today you have to produced rum quickly, and quality has no place here. There is a l...

Fair enough that it's the typical over-the-top write up from the Lone Caner, but it's not what I would term a recent review. It's actually from March 2013. What I find surprising is that phantasmorgical labial clout hasn't worked it's way into the accepted rum-reviewing lexicon in the 2 years since.

Re: A Death of Rum Fest: Salutes sugar and Plantation

Each rum in the Plantation Rum portfolio is made according to its country's traditional technique and expresses the rum characteristics and flavor of its country of origin. While the rums are born in the traditional fashion, produced in rum distilleries and aged in barrels in the tropical sun, they...

Just to be clear, I'm in no way belittling the work done by the Project or dismissing the value of having a sugar list compiled by the posters here. Myself, I find it of great use and, like I said, I have used the list to inform my purchases and I'm looking forward to seeing the database grow. I'm j...

Some months back I picked up a bottle of this for no other reason then to be able to do a Barbancourt flight at home (with the 3 and 4 stars). The comparaison was quite educational (and enjoyable!) although I had the suspicion that the white would not be returned to very often. A few weeks ago, I we...
