The shop in Campbeltown is a great place to visit - so many goodies! :-) Cadenhead's has magnificent Whiskies and Rums. The people behind the selections, and in sales, are really nice folks too, much like the good people of Springbank. Last time I popped in the shop at Campbeltown I got 28yo Demera...

I have no doubt these are amazing - last Christmas I picked up a 14 year old Port Morant from the London Cadenhead shop (70% ABV!) - wicked, wonderful stuff.

As for the changing bottles, a lot of the Haus Alpenz stuff isn't consistent - I've received different batches of Batavia Arrack van Oosten, sometimes it's screw top, sometimes cork. As for finding S&C in Trinidad, good luck - my friend went and he said the only rums seen anywhere are Angostura ...

For what it's worth, the Hamilton Jamaicans are Worthy Park. I've had the gold, and as much as I hate to say it, it's a solid rival for the likes of Smith & Cross.

Just speaking personally, I'm reasonably sure that any of the traditional style "round" bottles are notably older than the new flattened style institutes by a desperate marketing department. Per JaRiMi and myself, we both feel VERY strongly that MG has altered the MGXO blend, saving the r...

The Haus Alpenz stuff is pretty much aimed entirely at high end bartenders and home mixologists - their portfolio is available in bars more than shops

SC is pretty mainstream now stateside - most higher end bars have it. I too have the Bristol Vale Royal, and oddly I find that one more pungent and "weird", though for $30, SC is unbeatable.

Think about it, if a rum was really 12 to 23 years old, why would you smother it with not just a little "dosing" (thank you Pirate), but TONS of sugar, eg Z23 with 41 grams, or the Pee rums around 18-21g? Are we to assume the EDs are not carrying honest age statements? Because if they are...
