Alfred Lamb 1939/1949

Has anyone tried the above?
They are supposed to be Jamaican rums distilled at 1939/1949 and bottled in Scotland on the 80s/90s.
Shall I assume these are from Long Pond?
If yes, what kind of stills where they using then?

Cant find this at all.

The only version still in the market is the 1986-2008 with Madeira finish.
Has anyone tried this version?

There seem to have issued at least 2 Uitvulgt. Have not tried any and cannot find any review anywhere yet. The years are i think 1997 and 1998. It is quite interesting how most IB bottles of specific distilleries are from same vintage year. Enmore-1990 Longpond-2000 Uitvulgt-1997/1998 Caroni-1997/1998

They have appeared in UK as well.
Not cask strength but the older are bit expensive.
There is an Enmore 1990 and the Uitvulgt mentioned earlier.

The one that I am interested is a 15yo Foursquare.

And one more. In some countries blends are very much prevalent as the top whiskies that ppl bragg they have drunk. It is very disheartening but most ppl do try to find value in premium boxing blend products.. However the internet might change it all. There is so much info out there for ppl to become...

I try to avoid blends in whisky. When i was young i did try lots (in quantity ) but was never much exited about them. I think that taste is quite intangible so for some people blends might offer something that they like. However as BT mentioned i dont like blends because they dont allow me to unders...

Brilliant article.
So this is where the rums disappear into blends.
How come they manage to have so much power and be the in betweeners?

It came up at MoM but now its gone. Suspect they will get more soon. They seem to buy these in batches of 3-6 bottles each time.

Got a tip about a Rum Nation 1985 (23 yo probably PM) sitting on a shop forgotten for the last 4 years. Now it is on a very good price. If you want info PM me.

So Bristol seem to have released a 99 PM with bourbon cask finish. I wonder for how many of their releases they still.have few casks maturing! They had a 1990-2007 PM and last year they issued a 1990-2015. There was 1990-2008 Providence and then issued a 2012. Flying under the radar an IB whisky bot...

I am very suprised at how good mezcal is.
Have not tried the DM yet but I am very keen to do so.

Did try the pechuga from the above brand and it was very interesting. Not as smoky as the cuixe but as someone mentioned very gamey.

I need to try more varieties!!!

Hi and Welcome! A good alternative to whisky/rum , at a lower alcohol volume, is dry sherry. The stuff is very good and very cheap. You can get VORS sherry for £20-£30 (Vors stand for over 30 yrs solera aging). Again this is for dry sherry not PX/Cream sherry. Try an amontilado or an oloroso or a pa...

Trying El Jolgorio Cuixe mezcal. The nose is like a bloody ashtray. It smells so much like a Lagavulin 16.. The taste is a bit different. Feels light and not so peaty. Finish is long.. Briny? Have 3 more to try but I am quite suprised how good this is. It shows that production methods and duration m...
