Well sorry for the delay on this response. I tasted quite a bit of the 23 year at this time. I feel its not 23 years. I just don't see much of a difference between the 9 and 23 year. These are my initial thoughts. The 23 is somewhat less hot but its ABV is also less. There isn't any added complexity...

Warning: Rhum Clement bait and switch

Not sure where to start here so... I tried Rhum Clement select Barrel lot 85 of year 2015 earlier this year. I fell in love with the Rhum. It was excellent complex, a rhum to suggest to others getting into aged cane juice Rhum at 28.00 a bottle. It was clearly not chill filtered with sediment in the...

Well I got my rum shipment. I got 6 bottles from the retailer that I frequent about 4 times a year, 2 of the 2004 foursquare. Its sad to say that their still is corking issues with this rum. Both leaked in transit again like the port finish rum. One leaked slightly maybe 1 oz. The other lost about 3...

I'm buying from England Nomad. They should be available in the US any day now. The bottles for the west coast had cleared customs and were at the distributor two weeks ago. Don't expect a wide release, they will only be available in select shops on the west and east coast. Seale's other products ar...

Well, the 9 year variant is officially tested now. I tested this on two Hydrometer's of different brands as a fail safe on this. Both Hydro's showed about 50.2% ABV. There was a temp reading of 27.9C. This goes to 47.2% ABV. It's fair to say that there is no added sugar or otherwise in this bottle. ...

To get back to this... I tend to disagree completely with the pirate here. I find his comment to be not only insulting to hard working American entrepreneurs but clearly uneducated in American rum. If there is no movement in this process why has there been so so many distilleries in the US now makin...

As it's always good to in Ralfy's words somewhat to go traveling down some other streams in the spirits world. As of late I have done some mainly single malt scotches. It's only then you get the true appreciation for your main spirit. That said I'll crack my bottle open of this Rum tomorrow and repo...

That rum has not sailed to these parts yet. I hear they did recently reduce its list price from 60 to 45.00. Check out this article quoting the owner of this brand. http://venicemagftl.com/the-spirit-of-the-tropics/ I certainly hope this was a misquote but "expert blender" and part owner o...

I got around to testing the Oro their gold rum aged for 13 months...The results are devastating to US craft rum. It measured for 18 G/L of added sugars. The highest to date of any US Craft rum I've tested.

River Antoine rum distillery in Grenada has been open since 1785 and little has changed in their production methods. They still run on water wheels and wood fires. Some of the machines parts are still original. Here is a link to some pictures: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g147295-d1...

Here is the chapter for statements of Age from the TTB. https://www.ttb.gov/spirits/bam/chapter8.pdf The first few Bullets alone leave holes in this rums age claim and double aged claim. Its prohibited to consider any age after bottling. It's a single aged rum, 3 years old, distilled in 2005. It wou...

US rum Dept - Bayou select review

After trying to get back to normalcy after the Montanya rum incident, I found a local store carrying Bayou Rum, distilled in Lacassine, Louisiana. I bought the Select and white labels. They also have a spiced rum and a Satsuma Rum Liqueur, both labeled correctly. The distillery was opened in 2013 an...
