Produced by the infamous Burr Brothers in Miami - as exclaimed by Jackie Gleason "As always, the Miami Beach audience is the greatest audience in the world!". It is. And as I've said, in south Florida you will see more amazing and striking women in an hour than you'll see in a year in Cleveland, Ohio.
And I mean that literally.
So whether you are into the exoticism of our tropical paradise, beautiful people, rustling palm trees or even, uh, rum this Festival, along with Dori Byant's annual bash in Tampa are not to be missed.
Of course there will be the usual faux "competition" featuring only the paid entries, competing in faux and meaningless categories wherein only the "winners" (but not the competitors) are named, typically without tasting notes or scores. The reason: it's really impossible to compare 50 or 100 rums in the few hours alloted to the "judging" by the promoter's butt buddies.
But I digress.
Faux competition aside, such events are just plain fun, especially for those of you who remain tanless and tethered to meager existences in the frozen tundra of more northern climes.
Here's a blurb from Bobby B:
Good luck to the Burrs..."Save the dates and mark your calendars now for Miami Rum Renaissance Festival during Rum Week from April 25 to May 1, 2011.
The Rum Renaissance Grand Tasting has been expanded to a two-day event on April 30 and May 1 at the Deauville Beach Resort. This year's festival will be twice as big, feature many more events and attract a larger audience from around the world.
