As many of you may be painfully aware, Sue Sea and I are unabashed, unashamed, unrelenting and excruciatingly honest and sincere fans of Pussers. Pussers is the only remaining piece of rum history wherein you can taste and enjoy rum in accord with the state secret formula of the official British Royal Navy Rum enjoyed twice a day by British sailors for nearly 300 years. The latest official formula is over 100 years old, and it is this traditional tipple that can still be enjoyed at BRN Navy strength of 47%.
Perhaps the signature Signature drink of all time is the Pusser's Painkiller which unlike the somewhat pussified Tiki boyz, is the kind of serious and integrated creations that perfectly expresses both the rum and its ingredients:
The standard Painkiller is 2 oz of Pussers Blue Label, 4 oz of pineapple juice, 1 oz each of orange juice and cream of coconut - shake well and serve in a tall chilled glass with ice, and topped with freshly groung nutmeg. For those who like a good orgasm with their Painkiller, I cannot recommend enough - and like all great mixed drinks - the use of fresh squeezed or extracted juices, and the famous and famously expensive Coco Lopez. Some may prefer the 3 or 4 oz of Pusser's version.
Warning: do not drink while driving or wearing tight pants!
