For some reason Bacardi has become the subject of a few recent threads. In doing a little doo-doo diligence on the Bacardi that's hard to say - the Barcardi Superior Heritage Limited Edition Blanca Original (whew) - I ran acrooss Difford's Guide (here).
You'll find this guide quite informative, with a picture of the bottle, and data including proof, bin number, vintage, age, category, a nice long description of the blend and profile, complete set of facts on the distillery - whew, let me catch a breath here - and, and a Difford's review and rating.
Consider this review of Bacardi Gold:
Difford's Guide
"Originally named 'Bacardi Oro' after the Spanish word for 'gold', this was first produced in 1862. Bacardi Gold is blended from 14 different rums aged one-to-two years to produce a rum with a more pronounced flavour profile than Bacardi Superior. "
Appearance: Clear, pale golden.
Aroma: Restrained butterscotch, toffee and muscovado sugar with a light oak garnish.
Taste: Rich 'burnt' palate with hints of charcoal, vanilla, toffee, fudge, dry walnut and citrus fruit. Faint top notes of what I describe as Bacardi's distinctive blue cheese.
Aftertaste: Citrus and fudge finish with faint blue cheese.
Hmm. Bacardi's "distinctive blue cheese taste". Now that alone fellow idiots, oughta whet your interest. Impressive, knowledgable, informative, accessible, educational and brief. This site will of incredible value to you, and especially to our moosehead Canadian reviewers who need serious help in concocting their, uh "reviews".
Don't miss it, and btw it's Control-D...
