I've been going like crazy for the last few weeks and haven't been able to spend any time on the board (It seems like I have a lot of reading to do.)
This weekend I was in Michigan for a workshop. I was looking for a bottle of Smith and Cross which I was unable to find. I did find some Flor de Cana 18 year which was too pricey for me at above $50, so I picked up some El Dorado 12. I have the 15 which is my wife's favorite. So I got home tonight at 9pm and have been going through hundreds of emails that include 20+ resumes and I poured myself a dram. I forgot it in the kitchen until now and wow what a great rum. I just wanted to sign in and let you all know it.
It's a real pleasure after my mini crisis realizing that one of my favorites (Ron Matusalem Grand Reserve) and likely another of my favorites (Westerhall Plantation) is flavored.
I'm too tired to do a comparison to the 15 year. But right now I'm really enjoying it.
So thank you again for a great site to introduce me to some great rums. I'll be back in a couple of weeks and hopefully get that Prichard interview finished.

Re: A quick note
Yes ED12 is one of my favourites had both the ED12 and Matusalem 15 last night and got to say it but not a lot of difference in my appreciation of both even though Matusalem is altered who knows we may find that ED is altered the rum industry likes to keep hush hush on these things.jankdc wrote:I've been going like crazy for the last few weeks and haven't been able to spend any time on the board (It seems like I have a lot of reading to do.)

Had both back to back and got to say it but I think ED12 edges out Matusalem for me. Not by a lot though.
