The very first book - a real classic - was Luis Ayala's "The Rum Experience", perhaps one of the first real guides to rum. I have maintained communications with Luis for some years. Luis remains a respected, behind-the-scenes supporter of purity and honest in rums, and is a consultant to the industry.
