Where Mount Gay is always featured!

I recently reviewed one of the several high society rum shops, but other than the attentive atmosphere, nothing really special. I much prefer shops that cater to the hoi polloi and that have a real sense of our diverse South Florida cultures.

Wilton Discount Liquors, located in the heart of gay Wilton Manors, is one.

The owners are Indian and they know and extend both value and selection. I've found rums such as the Flor de Cana line, Pussers, Montecristo, Tommy Bahama and Charbay at some shockingly low prices. And Mount Gay of course. And many more.

The shop is not fancy but is crowded with tall full shelves, carts and bins loaded with beer, wine and spirits - many at deep discount. There are even a few look-at-me spirits under lock and key, and at prices up to $1300. Just for show I'm sure, but you can bet they'd sell em in a New Delhi second.

Friendly folk who'll box and carry your purchase to the car. I declined and carried my own box to my car when the box failed and a large bottle of Italian Cab/Merlot hit the deck and exploded behind my car. The owner came out and cleaned up the mess and accident that was entirely my fault. And when I walked back in to buy a replacement...

They gave it to me!

How bout dat! No pretense, clean, well-stocked and always-but-always some great sales. I could not recommend this store more highly. That it's located in the wondeful community of Wilton Manors is just another bonus. Buy your booze, then stop at Rosie's for some wonderful outdoor dining in this walkaround village, or just windowshop.
