Anyone tried Cockspur Five Star?

Post by Bearman »

One of my favourite rum-shops has this rum on sale, and I was wondering if anyone of you guys have tried it or have an opinion about it?

Capn's Log: We've yet to find a Barbadian to really disappoint. The 12 was reviewed (here) and mentions the younger one as well (NAS), which BTI reviewed (here). For us, yes to the 12. Has anyone tried the NAS?

Take this with a grain of salt, as it was a long time ago when I tried this rum. In those days, it WAS a good, reasonably priced, fairly dry and medium-light rum well worth the purchase.

Ditto. A fairly simple, inoffensive rum.

If you are looking for a sipper, go with the Cockspur 12 for not a whole lot more money; its $27 here in PA, and $23-25 most places where some semblance of a free market exists.

Thanks for the response guys. Since I am looking for a sipper, I am going to save my money till after Christmas and then buy myself something nice. Maybe some more rumverschnitt, I have been wanting to try Braasch ever since I saw the review on this site. And merry Christmas to y'all :)
