As long time readers may know the subject of the steal of the Havana Club name (obtained legally by Pernod and Cuba in the United States and worldwide) was well covered here:

In sum, Bacardi paid the disgraced US lobbyist Tom Delay a puny $20,000 to insert a retroactive clause into a large, non-related bill:

"...1. Cuba (and Pernod Richards) obtained the abandoned trademark legally in the United States, recognized internationally.

2. The 211 provision (aka the "Bacardi Bill") was literally slipped in to a large bill by Connie Mack of Florida (where else), as lobbied by the infamous Tom Delay, for a reported fee of $20,000.

6. Following this was a series of lawsuits, all won by Pernod Richards and Cuba worldwide, except in the United States, where Bacardi's position continues to deteriorate. "

According to the video, Bacardi gives away, er sells a puny 500 cases a year in the US, in a failing attempt to retain the name as a thorn in Cuba's behind. Obviously no one is fooled or for long. Bacardi's faux "Havana Club" was never reviewed well, sold very poorly and frankly I have no idea what happens to Florida's share of the 500 cases, as I haven't seen one in years here.

With a lifted embargo both Cuban smokes and rum will be sold here and I suspect will do quite well.
