Oh my...
I hope the argument wasn't about sugar content...
. . . . . . .
Seriously, what is it about the promoters of rum? The first "incident" - some years ago - was between the Preacher who'd been hired to conduct a rum event for the Rum Queen. Their relationship ended by being handled by attorneys. The next was when the Burr Bros. attended a RQ event in Tampa, at which they strutted about and appeared to be accumulating contacts under the Queen's nose, to her great frustration. The relationship seemed to come to an end when the Death of Rum Fest was thereafter established in Miami.
This was followed up by Burr's attendance at the Preacher's event in Chicago, wherein the Preacher was alleged to have accused Burr of threatening his life. This one was laughed off, but their relationship seems have suddenly ended, and Burr was "liberated" from the Shillery. Compare to the Tate affair, where the protagonist was accused of threatening to shoot the Director of the Board.
Oh my x4!
And now, an alleged attack on an 79 year old woman, his mother yet? And knocked her down, breaking her wrist and "rendering her unconscious"? Is this really true? Good fackin grief! It seems truth may be stranger than fiction...
*******
The pic was taken from his arrest mugshot:

BTW, the arrest was for battery, not assault ("assault" is the threat, while "battery" is the actual physical impact).

Did you know? Burr never even graduated from high school. When reached for comment, Burr told Short Order, "I'm not going to discuss the details of a pending legal matter, but what I can tell you is that the accusations are false and when all the fact are examined I will be fully vindicated."

You would think that some rum companies would stop spending their advertising money with this guy.
Looks like he has been arrested a few times for cocaine possession as well. https://www2.miami-dadeclerk.com/cjis/m ... eSupport=1
What a class act.

Per the above (assuming he is the same Robert Adams Burr):
F-14-013197 06/06/2014 Open BATTERY/ELDERLY
F-78-005938 04/14/1978 05/17/1978 COCAINE/POSSESSION
F-78-005935-C 05/17/1978 01/15/1979 COCAINE/POSSESSION
Per database of Miami-Dade County Clerk. The latter two cases are now closed, the battery/elderly case is obviously still open, apparently will go to trial.

Naw, it just adds to the piratey, fun, "...it's all good" aura of rogue rum. And brings new meaning to "Rum and Coke", lol...

From today's search at the Miami-Dade County Clerk of Court's website:
Of course this all assumes that Robert Adams Burr is one and the same, but all the dates, charge and bail appear to match the news reports by the Herald, New Times and CBS websites, so draw your own conclusions.
I should also note that I could find no reports of Burr's son in the reports, so I have corrected the OP. It is our system that a person should be considered innocent until proven guilty, and until further facts and findings occur Mr. Burr should be given the benefit of the doubt. There is also the possibility that Robert Adams Burr is not one and the same.

Search was done at the Clerk of Court's site by searching on the case number (F-14-013197), which returned the above. A defendant search on Robert Burr, male returns a Robert Adams Burr, which leads to a Battery/Elderly on 6/6/14, plus two old possession charges (from the late 70's).

Per his own website...
Burr's own personal site is headed "Robert Adams Burr" in which he designates himself "Publisher - Civic Activist - Historian - Patriot - Advocate - Promoter - Writer", and states:
I sincerely hope Mr. Burr is indeed innocent of the media alleged charges made against him. The consequences if he is not are hard to imagine.

From the article that I read, it appeared that he was attempting to break up a fight between his wife and mother. I don't understand why he would do that... it's like a problem that is working itself out.
If true, he deserves what he gets for being so stupid.

Senor Burr the rum promoter once told me "rum is fun - you are not". Nope, I'm not this much fun at all...! I guess "coke is fun too".
Me, I don't do drugs or smoke cigarettes, cigars, anything - alcoholic substances in moderation is quite enough, thank you. Seen drug abusers go nuts, and smokers get lung cancer. Not for me.
How boring I am...C'est la vie.

Or NYC, or almost anywhere the then 18-24 yr old boomers were congregating, including most universities. Actually arrests for illegal substances were much lower than today (about 350,000 in 1973 vs 1,500,000 in 2013).
Although Miami was only one of the entry points, Don Johnson and Al Pacino can take credit for that imagery. Frankly, the Keys should be the focus.
Still, MJ was much more common, and a relative minority used cocaine. Fewer still were arrested for use, fewer still for sale, and of those most were black or hispanic. With these in mind two arrests in two years (with probation) is rather remarkable, a kind of rennaisance if you will...
