Moreover, I despised the stealing of his logo, et al, by the Badassitor.

It is well to recall that Luis was truly one of the pioneers, and authors insofar as understanding rum. Still the notion that a 5-day course can prepare you to become an artisan distiller is, of course, foolish.

I'm not kidding, check out this claim:
Now I don't know about you, but this is a bit hyperbolic. Now there are no claims of small barrel, supersonic aging like the ADI, but the impression is left that anyone with enough disposable income can, yup, become an artisan distiller producing "excellent rums"."The Rum University and Moonshine University have joined forces to offer the most comprehensive rum training to existing and future rum distillers and brand owners from around the world."
"The 5-Day course will guide attendees through the financial, marketing, production, aging, and blending of rum, so each person can leave with a complete understanding of how rums can fit into the economic landscape. The course will offer a great combination of theory and practice, making it the ideal learning tool for anyone whose livelihood will depend on their ability to properly produce and commercialize excellent rums."
Now mind you there are indeed a literal handful of successful artisans, but who learned their skills the hard way. It doesn't help either, that the course is being offered in an apparent partnership with the "Moonshine Institute" which - urp - who brings in guest educators (like Luis) to their "Distilled Spirits EPICENTER (sp)".

Apparently it's not enough to name your building the "EPICENTER" of distilled spirits (as per Chip Tate I guess); but it has to be in shouting ALL CAPS! Whew!
Epicentric marketing aside, at least they have the sense to bring a bit of reality to the course:
"Even the best week-long workshop in the world won’t be enough to teach distilling hopefuls everything they need to know to open up their own shop, but Moonshine University embraces this. Their goal is to teach students more about “what they don’t know,” as it gives them the framework to continually learn long after the workshop ends"
So how much does this amazing 5-day course set you back?
