Chipmunk Dept: Alvin and the Marketeers...

Some of you may not know the 80+ year old Don Pancho who was the original "discovery" promoted by the Zee boyz - they of the slicked back black hair and sporting Dominican Robustos.

The Zee boyz made Pancho famous, by claiming his authorship of a bunch of great rums that they failed to name. Having been made into sort of a rum reality star, Pancho is summoned to the rum fests, where he waves his hand in Pope-like fashion and poses with his benefactors and important fans. Even Wolfie got a pic with the Paunch. Having been so created, Pancho then lent his name to even more great rums like Ron de Jeremy porn star rum, among others. This caused the Zee boyz to instantly set their hair on fire, no easy task and which made a LOT of greasy smoke!

Now as per his snapshot, this should have been quite enough. Pancho looks kindly and wise, if not in need of an afternoon siesta. At my rapidly advancing age, I can identify with the P-man. But now let's see what the art department created for yet another Pancho blended and independently bottled rum...

Is this the same guy? He now looks more like Jack LaLanne who in his 70's: "...handcuffed, shackled, and fighting strong winds and currents, he towed 70 rowboats, one with several guests, from the Queen's Way Bridge in the Long Beach Harbor to the Queen Mary, one mile.".

The only thing missing? A nice, crisp Panama...

In the 2013 Ultimate spirits challenge results Don Q Gran anejo scored substantially higher than the anejo, 93 to 89. Mt Gay Black barrel scored 94.

Capn's Log: Mount Gay Black Barrel at 94? That's scary.
