Trigo Reserva Añejo
My brother was on business in Puerto Rico a couple of months back (during the Rum Project fog) and, knowing my love for rum, brought me back a bottle of Trigo Reserva Añejo. I've never seen or heard of this one, but a little Google search indicates that its one of the non-imported rums to look for there, along with Ron Barrelito (he has a bottle of this one, too). Has anyone heard of this and had any experience with it? I'll eventually get around to opening it and posting a review, but it's always interesting to gain the insight of the Rum Project.

Send me some, lol...
Always good to hear from the Bear. I've heard of this and at one time it was to have been imported to Florida, where else! But it never made it and trust me - if a rum is in Florida, it's definitely in South Florida and available somewhere and at a great price. But it never happened.
Barrilito used to be in easy supply, but no more as the Big Three continue to force real rums off the shelves (though a dusty one can be found here and there). Sue Sea and I reviewed both, and we both much preferred the Two Star. Oddly enough so does the Preacher (even a blind mouse...).
My impressions are that this: that this Trigo is at least 12 years old and does not appear colored at all. A smattering of comments on the net were encouraging and compared Trigo to Don Q's Gran Anejo. Do let us know, and btw I'm told that if you rub the bottle, you get three wishes...
ps. FWIW, it's "Barrilito" and Trigo Reserve "Aneja", one of the few feminine rons or ronettes out there...

Late Breaking News: found reference that rumours that Trigo may buy rum from Bacardi, then age it themselves, in this case from 8 to 12 years, and blend for various products. Most sources state a minimum of 12 years.
