I'm shocked... an amazing combination!
It had been a tough day in Paradise. Sue Sea needed some salt air, so it was off to our favorite hangout near the famous Port Everglades: broad expanses of sandy beach, lined with Ft. Lauderdale's famous beachfront highrises, the Atlantic Ocean and thousands of happy families and tourists enjoying what for us is just another day in Paradise. I decided to go for a long walk on the steeply sloped sand near the water's edge and managed to pull a muscle.
So tonight I sat aching, so after a couple of Ibuprofens, I went to our rum closet and found a very old, unopend bottle of Flor de Cana 12 - just what the doctor ordered. I'd not tasted FdC for a couple years now and it was very nice: all the smooth and classic rum flavors of deep orange and fruit, along with a nice leather. Very pleasant, and then on a whim I noticed the bottle of Sammy's Beach Bar cane juice rum, still fresh on my mind from our recent, very positive review.
Then it came to me. What would Ralfy do? We all know.
Ralfy would blend them!
So as I experienced the the Flor de Cana's smooth and classic rum presentation, I iimagined Sammy's smooth vegetal anise and white pepper heat and couldn't resist! I added a good dollop of the Sammy's white cane juice to the Flor's aged molasses based rum and bingo!
The combination was simply stunning. Brilliant really. A dram from heaven and I'm serious. So good, that tomorrow I'll have to include Sue Sea and we'll have at it and let you all know the specifics.
Do stay tuned. And if you've done a blending you liked, do share...
Blending Dept: Ralfy would be proud!

How would something have lower Brix than Seale's, when he doesn't add anything? Not doubting you, just curious. In either case, that's good to know about FdC!
*******
Capn's Log: Correction: tests have been rerun with the hydrometer (Seales' method, which indicates the presence of sugar in the FdC.)

A correction...
FWIW, I reran the tests, this time with Seale's recommended hydrometer (rather than the refractometer), which indicated the presence of sugar in the FdC in comparison to Seales. How much remains unclear, and to be fair all these tests were done only on a whim and should not be considered reliable.
Yet. My apologies. It turns out that the refractometer is not yet ready for prime time.
