Pray for Sue Sea
Sue Sea (Susie) had to be hospitalized last night for abdominal pains. Preliminary tests indicate three possibilities, two that are not serious but one of them is cancer. We won't know for another day or two as testing proceeds.
I am very, very upset.
I beg you to take a few moments and pray for her, and for a good outcome. She is a wonderful, caring and completely loving person who has always put the needs of others - her children, family and friends, and yes mine, ahead of her own.
Now her needs are forefront. Thanks to all of you...

Thanks for the positives...
It's quite early, the test will be today, probably this am, and then of course you are forced to wait for the the report, and the interpretation by the gastro doc. As things have developed, cancer is looking less likely (but not impossible) but inflammation/infection much more so, but these too may be just as challenging or dangerous depending. Her symptoms are worsening. Still these are all guesses for a few more hours.
The worst part is the waiting of course. She is quite scared, of course. I'm reassuring her as best I can, as we will deal with it, no matter what comes along. More to follow later today...and thanks again.

So sorry that she continues to suffer with this... praying and hoping that she can find some relief soon and, even better, a remedy. Hang in there, Cap'n! She's fortunate to have someone like you to look after her while she deals with scary stuff like this. Be strong for her and keep us posted as you can.

My friends I am so glad to be able to say the tests have been completed. The original CT scan indicated the possibility of cancer, or a localized inflammation or infectious process - all possible.
After further testing (scoping), the finding seems to be inflammation, a case of painful gastritis, perhaps the best possible diagnosis, which can be treated via a modest change in medication, and diet. Still, biopsies were taken to be sure, which results take a week.
All in all this was a very upsetting experience for Sue Sea, as the prep for the tests meant no food, and little sleep for two days, not to mention the fearful agony of not knowing. Both of us are exhausted.
Sue Sea was surprised that I reached out to all of you, but was extremely moved and appreciative for your support, as was I.
Thanks again...

Thanks for the update and reaching out to us. So glad that there's a good explanation for the pain and a simple remedy. My wife has suffered with this before and it is definitely no fun. I'm amazed at how much pain a mild stomach inflammation can cause! Get some rest!

Very sad to hear of Susie's health issues, and I hope that she recovers fully very soon indeed. One's health is one of those things that we too often take for granted - life is a precious thing, and to be able to live a healthy life is more valuable than all the rum, gold and silver in the world.
Good wishes and thoughts to you and Susie, I pray she will soon be 100% healthy again.

Again, thanks. Apparently the recovery from such a gastritis can take months. This includes a very restricted diet, plus the usual meds to reduce reflux and acid.
No caffeine, carbonation, acids, alcohol, red fruits and vegetables, spicy foods, meds that tough on the GI system et al. Bland beyond bland. For now she is completely exhausted and the abdominal pains will continue for a time. She feels like she was run over by a truck.
A tough go for her. The good news - no bleeding, no severe damage to the digestive system, and no cancer at this time (pending the biopsy results).
Thanks to all from Sue Sea as well...

Check in case Sue Sea is on other medicatins from before this incident (I don't know whether is or isn't). My wife developed Barrets-Eosophagus through taking tablets for back problems, the tablets are rough on the stomach and eventually eat away at the valve at the top of her stomach. So be vigilant.Capn Jimbo wrote:Again, thanks. Apparently the recovery from such a gastritis can take months. This includes a very restricted diet, plus the usual meds to reduce reflux and acid.
