Wouldn't it be nice if you could buy a dependable, good smoking, refurbished Estate pipe for $30, free shipping and returnable?
It would:

Regarding Viking Club Pipes...
This one is run by a fellow named Nathan Mattia. The site was/is affiliated with a pipe smoking club in St. Louis, Mo. This is the gentleman from whom I purchased a "sunken cup" style of Calabash. This one was particularly swoopy and graceful, a precursor to the Zulu style.
. . . . . . .
The prices are excellent (this one was $28 with a trivial defect), the selection pretty broad; however the real mark of a good seller is being accessible by either email or phone. He was (by email), albeit a bit delayed. The Viking Club has earned a few comments on the net, all favorable.
I'll comment on the pipe momentarily (tracking says Monday)...
Addendum:
Pipe received in good condition as pictured and described, bowl nicely reamed - however - having now restored 2 pipes myself, I can say this pipe was a "quickie" cleanup. The stummel was lightly polished, but the Vulcanite stem cleanup was only partial as there was notable browning at the tenon end. The stem will require an oxyclean soaking, magic eraser, micro-mesh and polish.
To be fair, this vendor does not describe his process - what he did do reduces my work, but the pipe needs a good and complete soak, clean and final polish. Still, for what I paid, a good purchase.

A purchase from Marty Pulver...
. . . . . . .
This gentleman - and I mean that - was terrific. I first contacted him but not to buy a pipe; rather, to ask his advice about the Fiamatta I'd seen on the net. I knew it was a very special pipe - he took much phone time to discuss it and recommended what he believed its real value.
As a result of that when I spotted the nice Savinelli Dry System (above) - a hard-to-find model - at his website for a mere $35, of course I did business with him. The pipe was received in brilliant condition and I could not have been more pleased.
Not only did he respond to emails promptly, but is so daring as to post his phone number and encourage calls. He returns messeges. You can't ask for more than that...
