As you've noticed there is now a "Sugar" section, and for good reason...
...and it's simple. "Rum" is easily the most abused, and most dishonest of the spirits - which is no news at all to most sophisticated rum lovers. Unfortunately for years we had to rely on our palates, and only in the last year or so did we finally learn of and get access to the ALKO and Swedish databases - even so, most rums were not tested. Johnny Drejer changed all that with his extensive and accurate sugar tests, but moreso for developing a method and simple, easy to use equipment that any monkey can reliably use - for how much? Just $17! Seriously. Sugar testing will now explode, leaving no ditches for the distillers in which to hide.
Already 4 members have agreed to test their collections. Three webmasters are now publishing sugar levels and both the Fat Rum Pirate and I will work to test our collections.
Better yet...
All these positive changes, and all these tests have been summarized into a single alphabetical list including ALKO, the Swedes, Drejer and soon tests from all participating members and webmasters as part of the Great Sugar Test.
Johnny has changed the paradigm from one of protective corporate opacity, to one of decentralized testing by multiple public parties. No longer will the distillers be able to hide behind their marketing or mislabelling. While buying a sugared rum remains a personal choice, at last buyers can finally select their rums with knowledge of the compiled sugar tests. Already three well known sites: Dave Russell's, the Fat Rum Pirate and the Project are or will be soon publishing sugar tests with each review.
Groundbreaking stuff.
It's my belief that Drejer's breakthrough will finally change the world of rum - dramatically - for the better as "sugared rums" will finally be distinguished. At last there will no place to run, no place to hide...
It's about time. There will now be a pause (aren't you glad until the Great Sugar Test participants get their equipment, test it, and then to finally test and report their collections. Rum lovers everywhere thank you...

Cyril, terrific!!
Folks this is exactly what I mean. The power to determine sugar is now back in the hands of us, the lovers of rum, where it belongs. Cyril - just send the results to me and we'll go from there. I will work to add new results to the master list as quickly as possible; the listing will include a credit for the tester/provider.
A master list - with all tests rums listed alphabetically - is key to providing a single source for all rum lover to contribute, and/or to check a rum for sugar.
Congratulations Cyril - you are part of the solution!
